So if you have been living under a rock the past week or so then let me inform you on a phenomenal book that has been released! Thicker Than Water has been making waves through the book community with it's explosive release, Everyone is raving about this book to anyone who will listen, including myself!
When ever I read a book that is just simply amazing and touching I always basically force my friends to read it, I mean it's for their benefit! why would I want them to miss out on the experience.
Thicker Than Water is a book we really needed in this romance smut filled book community. Something to make us think while we got our healthy dose of sexy alpha! A book that is going to help educate and allow readers (myself included) to become more informed.
A story about an undocumented Mexican immigrant who worked hard and got her big break but can't fully enjoy it for the fear that someone is going to take her from the only home she knows. Her world. Her life. Her friends. This is a real life situation for so many people. Real people with families they could be ripped away from!
So I really applaud Dylan Allen for taking on this somewhat controversial topic and doing it with an elegance and grace only a few could! The story was so enchanting and like a fairy tale to me in some ways. I guess the romance is what was fairy tale like to me. The chemistry between Reece and Lucia was so passionate and loving. I love how they just truly cared for each other and first became friends and then lovers.
The author had an amazing ability to just portray the characters emotions so well. There were so many moments where my heart shattered for Lucia because she had been wronged but could not do a thing about it because of her situation. Those were the scenes that really made me think about things I never even paid attention to or try to understand before.
Honestly I don't know what there is not to like about this book. It was simply perfection to me. I am such a huge Dylan Allen fan now and will be reading any book she writes from here on.

I decided to ask the characters questions because I wanted readers who haven't yet gotten a chance to read the book a little taste of what they are like.
Lucia's Questions
While writing Throw Away The Key what was the most important message for you to get across to the readers?
That hard work, kindness, honesty are the tools you need to succeed. And that taking chances doesn’t mean you’re not afraid, it means you’re not letting it stop you.
Knowing that you could be sent back to Mexico at anytime how did that fear affect your everyday life?
It made feel like I couldn’t ever fully exhale. It made me feel shame and it made me want to squeeze every single beautiful second out of the life I was living.
1. What is it that he does that makes you think “wow I’m so lucky to have him!”
He's the kindest human being I’ve ever met. He sees himself as a citizen of the world and he wants to do his part to make it a better place. And he’s drop dead gorgeous!
When was the moment you knew he was the one? How did it make you feel?
I knew when his father got sick and he was so upset but was thinking about me at the same time. Like I won the lottery.
What about Reece gets on your nerves? Obviously you guys love each other but something about him has to be wrong!
He chews loudly and he’s really obsessed with hand lotion.
Reece' Questions
Finding out that Lucia was undocumented and could be taken away from you must have been a scary feeling. How did you handle those emotions?
I was scared, but I also never though they would be a barrier to us being together. I always think, where there’s a will there’s a way.
What was the first thought that came into your head when you met Lucia?
Well that she was beautiful, talented and courageous.
Knowing that some of the moments in Throw Away The Key were scenarios taken from her real life, did it give you a new outlook on the struggles undocumented people have to go through?
I’ve always been away aware of the struggles of undocumented people, but I also didn’t know anyone in the situation intimately until Lucia. The bravery they exhibit is humbling.
What about Lucia drew her to you? You are surrounded by beauty every day, actresses and models. What was so different about Lucia?
I’ve never met anyone as beautiful as she is. Ever. And it’s an inner light that makes her even more stunning.
I asked Lucia the same question and I am curious to see what your response will be! What about Lucia gets on your nerves?
She flirts with everyone and she takes forever to order in restaurants. But otherwise, she’s perfect.
I am incredibly lucky that Dylan has accepted to do this character Q&A with me (THANK YOU<3)! I hope you enjoy the questions and answers.
